SHEA BUTTER
Mmm butter. Shea is your scalp healer protector, and is packed with anti-inflammatory properties to help with dry, damaged scalps. Don’t be fooled by the ‘butter’ bit though. This nourishing ingredient won’t be blocking your pores or leaving you feeling greasy. Rest assured knowing you’re giving your scalp good lovin’ with this vitamin A and E, essential fatty acid-filled angel.
FLAXSEED OIL
Imagine if your hair had the flexibility of an olympic gymnast. Imagine no more. Flaxseed oil is a rich source of vitamin E, B1, B2, B6 and biotin – basically the A-squad in elasticity. Your hair will be bending over backwards (sans breakages) in no time.
KAKADU PLUM
Need moisture and hydration? Better invite kakadu plum to the party then. Kakadu plum will bring elastin and collagen as gifts (who rocks up to a party empty handed? Not KP). At the end of the night (or your shower), your hair will go from dry and lifeless to totally cranking the volume and shining like a disco ball. Yup, definitely inviting kakadu plum.
We’re really proud that our kakadu plum is sourced in an environmentally, socially and ethically responsible manner.
HYDROLYSED QUINOA
Quinoa isn’t just for your salad! Quinoa is a protein-rich seed that looooves hair. It’s been used throughout history (like, ancient times) for it’s hair cleansing and healing properties. Quinoa is pretty badass when it comes to growing in harsh environments, totally thriving in poor soil and is resistant to frost and drought. Strengthening your hair and the soil at the same time. Win-win!
COCONUT OIL, Cocos Nucifera
Ummm yum-town. Another tasty ingredient that’s good for your bod and your noggin. We don’t blame you if you want to put it in your face first, but hear us out. This cute little thing could be old mate, kakadu plum’s twin – obsessed with locking in moisture, helping your scalp with any itchy, dry bits (dandruff, be gone!), and repairing your hair one strand at a time. After coconut oil is done, you’ll be wondering where the frizzy bits went (home, with coconut oil).
JOJOBA OIL, Simmondsia Chinensis
Comes from the jojoba plant and is a superhero ingredient thanks to its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties that can help to repair and restore your scalp (especially if it’s a bit on the sensitive side and experiences inflammation). Packed with vitamin E and heaps of antioxidants, it's healing powers benefit breaking or damaged strands.
Our jojoba oil has an added level of fanciness. It’s single origin – just like fancy coffee beans.
FINGER LIME
Mmm – finger-licking-good! Finger lime (or caviar lime) is a citrus native to Australia. This plant is prized for its caviar-like pulp. Finger lime is a game-changer for the natural/ organic haircare industry, gently exfoliating and cleansing the scalp of dirt/ impurities without stripping essential hair oils or nutrients. That’s a big win for our oily-headed friends! Finger lime is also all the muscle on team hair protection, safeguarding the hair from UV damage in dehydrated/ coloured hair.
ALOE VERA
She burns! Well… not if aloe can help it! Aloe is a long-standing hair-care hero, its anti-inflammatory properties smoothing, nourishing the scalp, and protecting against dermatitis. Aloe is the perfect gentle cleanser, fighting bacteria and microbes, optimising the health and function of the scalp. Not to mention, old mate aloe is rich in essential hair-health nutrients: vitamins A, C, E, B12, and choline.
ROSEMARY OIL
Hair calling it quits? It’s time to call in re-enforcements! Rosemary oil has been traditionally used to promote hair growth. It’s anti-inflammatory and vasodilator properties work to improve circulation/ cell turnover, stimulating healthy hair growth at the follicle.
OUR COMMITMENT
We know we can do better, and just like our commitment to finding and using better packaging, we’re committed to applying the same level of rigour to our ingredients. We’re working hard to ensure this entire list will one day show a big ol’ fair trade, single source or single farm badge against every single ingredient. Lots of small steps towards making a bigger and better impact. Watch this space.
